Can I use the content in RagaRecognizer to make my own music?
Yes — you are free to use all of the content (raga presets, performances, swara highlights, sound libraries, MIDI output) in your own compositions, recordings, and live performances.
However, there are some important restrictions:
✅ You can use RagaRecognizer’s sounds, ragas, and performances as part of your own musical works (whether commercial or non-commercial).
❌ You may not extract, copy, resell, or distribute the raw presets, MIDI files, or performance recordings in isolation.
❌ You may not repackage our sounds or raga database to create a competing plugin, sample library, or sound pack.
⚠️ Note: If you upload an exact unaltered copy of a performance included in RagaRecognizer, it may conflict with other users and get flagged by YouTube, Spotify, or digital distributors (content ID systems). The ideal is to use our content as inspiration and building blocks, then shape it into your own unique music.
👉 In short: use it, create with it, release your music — just don’t redistribute our raw content as your own product.
Do you offer multi-seat pricing for schools and institutions?
Yes — we offer special multi-seat pricing for eligible schools, colleges, and music academies: Please Contact
Why can’t I see RagaRecognizer in my DAW after installation?
Don’t worry — this is a common situation with new plugin installations.
Check vendor name
Some DAWs list plugins under the vendor “Tonaling” rather than “RagaRecognizer.”
Look under Tonaling in your plugin list.
Rescan your plugins
- Close your DAW.
- Ensure RagaRecognizer is installed in the correct plugin folder:macOS
Plugin Type Directory Type Path VST User ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST VST System /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST VST3 User ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 VST3 System /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 AU User ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components AU System /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components Windows
Plugin Type Directory Type Path VST Shared C:\Program Files\VstPlugins VST Shared C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins VST3 Shared C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 - Reopen your DAW and perform a plugin rescan (check your DAW’s preferences or plugin manager).
Check plugin format compatibility
- Logic Pro uses AU (Audio Units)
- Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, etc. use VST3
- Standalone version can be launched directly like a normal app
I’m seeing a blue Windows warning (“Windows protected your PC”) when I try to install RagaRecognizer. What should I do?
A: Don’t worry this is a normal Windows SmartScreen message that sometimes appears for new software.
To continue the installation:
On the blue SmartScreen dialog, click More info.
You will see Publisher: Unknown (this will soon update to Tonaling UK as our signing certificate gains reputation).
Click Run anyway to install.
Rest assured, RagaRecognizer is 100% safe and virus-free. This warning only appears because the software is new and not yet widely distributed.
Fun fact: Microsoft charges developers far more than Apple… but the scary warnings are included at no extra charge. Fear and greed: the foundation of corporate “gentlemen.
Having trouble opening RagaRecognizer on Windows?
If you installed RagaRecognizer but it doesn’t open and Windows shows an error mentioning:
MSVCP140.dll
Exception code: 0xc0000005 Don’t worry it’s an easy fix!
This means your computer doesn’t yet have the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x64) installed a standard Windows runtime library used by many apps.
Quick Fix
1️⃣ Download and install this official Microsoft package (safe link):
2️⃣ After it finishes, reopen RagaRecognizer it will launch normally
We’re including this automatically in the next update, so future installs won’t need this step.Thank you to everyone for your amazing feedback and support 💛
